【摘要】:Theproceduresoutlinedherearegroundedinthegenerallyacceptedbodyofknowledgeandexperienceinthefieldofforensicdocumentexamination.Byfollowingtheseprocedures,aforensicdocumentexaminercanreliablyreachanopinionconcerningwhetheraparticularsingle-strikeribbonorlift-offcorrectiontapewasusedinthepreparationofaspecifictypedtext.1.1Thisguideprovidesproceduresthatshouldbeusedbyforensicdocumentexaminers(GuideE444)forexaminationsandcomparisonsinvolvingsingle-strikefilmribbonswithtypedtextandrelatedprocedures.1.2Theseproceduresareapplicablewhethertheexaminationandcomparisonisofquestionedandknownitemsorofexclusivelyquestioneditems.1.3Theseproceduresincludeevaluationofthesufficiencyofthematerialsubmittedforexamination.1.4Theseproceduresarealsogenerallyapplicabletoexaminationsoflift-offandcover-upcorrectiontapesandsheets.1.5Theseproceduresmayalsobeapplicable(inwholeorinpart)toexaminationsofcarbonpaperandcarboncopiesorofdocumentsproducedwithcertainnon-impactprintingdevices(forexample,printingdevicesusingathermalimagingtransferribbon).1.6Theparticularmethodsemployedinagivencasewilldependuponthenatureofthematerialavailableforexamination.1.7Thisguidemaynotcoverallaspectsofunusualoruncommonexaminations.1.8Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatoryrequirementspriortouse.
