【摘要】:Theheavymetals,leadandcadmium,areknowntocauseserioushealtheffectsinmanifconsumedinexcess.Itis,therefore,importanttomeasuretheamountthatmaybeextractedfromanareaoftheglassdrinkingvesselincontactwiththelip.Eventhoughtheamountofleadandcadmiumextractedbythistestmethodisinnowayrepresentativeoftheamountofthemetalsextractedbyactuallipcontact,therelativemagnitudeofmetalsextractedfromonetestspecimeninrelationtoanothertestspecimenprovidesaneffectivetoolfordiscrimination.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofleadandcadmiumextractedbyaceticacidfromthelipandrimareaofglasswareusedfordrinkingandwhichisexteriorlydecoratedwithceramicglassenamels.Theprocedureofextractionmaybeexpectedtoacceleratethereleaseofleadandcadmiumfromthedecoratedareaandtoserve,therefore,asaseveretestthatisunlikelytobematchedundertheactualconditionsofusageofsuchglassware.Thistestmethodisspecificforleadandcadmium.Note1ForadditionalinformationseeTestMethodC738.1.2Thevaluesstatedinacceptablemetricunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandardmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcernsassociatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
