【摘要】:ThisPartofBS8103givesrecommendationsforthesizesoftimberelements,fixings,andtheirconnectionswithmasonrywalls,etc.Itappliestodetached,semi-detached,terracedhousesandflats(withnotmorethanfourself-containeddwellingunitsperfloor,accessiblefromonestaircase)ofnotmorethanthreestoreysaboveground,intendedfordomesticoccupation.Therecommendationsalsoapplytosingle-storeynon-residentialbuildings,e.g.domesticgaragesandannexes,notexceeding36minfloorarea.Thedesignofproprietaryhousingsystems,i.e.crosswallconstructions,timberframedhouses,steelorconcreteframedconstructions,concretepanelconstructions,isnotcoveredbythisstandard.TherecommendationsofthisPartofBS8103areapplicableonlytohousingwhere:a)theconstructioncomprisesmasonrywalls,timberroofs,suspendedtimberorprecastconcreteintermediatefloors,suspendedtimberorconcretegroundfloors(eithersuspendedorgroundbearing);b)theroofprofileissymmetricalduopitch,monopitchorflat;NOTE1Pitchedroofsoftrussedrafterortraditionalconstructionsarecovered,butnotconstructionsusingprincipaltrusses.Hipendsand“L”shapedplansarenotspecificallycoveredalthoughvaluesaregivenforjackrafters.c)themaximumclearspanofapitchedroofdoesnotexceed12.0mandimposesatotalloadonthesupportingperimeterwallsnotgreaterthan12kN/mrun;d)gableandseparatingwallsareofmasonryconstructionextendinguptotherooflineinthecaseofpitchedroofs;e)theroofareaisnotlargerthan200m2onplan;or,inthecaseofpitchedroofswherenoparapetsexist,oneoftheroofdimensionsdoesnotexceed10m;f)therearenootherbuildingswithin1.5moftheperimeterofthebuilding;g)theroofhasnoabruptchangesofheightgreaterthan1monwhichsnowdriftingcouldoccur;NOTE2Thislimitationdoesnotapplytothechangeofheightbetweenthemainroofandtheroofofalowerannexe,iftheroofareaoftheannexedoesnotexceed36m.Chimneysanddormerswhoseverticalelevationareas,againstwhichadriftcouldform,arelessthan1m,neednotbeconsideredasbeinganabruptchangeofheight.h)themaximumclearspanofanyfloorjoistorflatroofjoistdoesnotexceed6.0m;i)thedesignwindcriteriaiswithinthescopeofBS8103;NOTE3GuidanceisgiveninBS8103-1andBS8103-2onhowtodeterminewhetherthedesignwindcriteriaforabuildingonaparticularsiteiswithinthescopeandapplicationofBS8103.GuidanceisgiveninAnnexMregardingthedeterminationofsnowloadforaparticularsite.j)nopartofanywallorroofishigherthan15mabovethelowestadjacentgroundlevel;k)floorjoists,ceilingjoists,flatroofjoists,commonorjackraftersortrussedraftersarespacedatcentreswhichdonotexceed600mm;l)thestabilityrequirementsanddimensionallimitationsaccordwithBS8103-1:1995+A1:1995,Clause5.Thesizesoftimbershowninthespantablesarelimitedtothosenormallyreadilyavailablebutdonotprecludetheuseoflargerordifferentsizesifjustifiedbyspecialistcalculation.ThedesignrequirementsandthosefordurabilityandtimberpreservationgiveninthisPartofBS8103arerelatedonlytostructuralconsiderations.Fortrussedrafterroofs,thisstandardcontainsonlyasmuchinformationasisnecessaryandmainlycomprisesreferencestoBS5268-3.
